Hi Guys!

Welcome to ‘The Mustard Spoon’ a space that’s dedicated to the love of food. I was born with a passion (some might say an obsession) for eating! For as long as I can remember, the rumblings in my stomach have had a major impact on my life. To be honest, there is very little in our lovely world that excites me more than food. Over time, my love of eating has been joined by a passion for cooking. With an ever spiralling number of cookbooks, I decided it was time to pursue a career that harnessed this commitment to the calorie. An incredibly inspiring professional cookery course at Ashburton Chef’s Academy was to follow, and for the last few years I’ve been enjoying running an award winning catering company with my beautiful wife Bea.

Fortunately, she too gets excited by food just as I do, so we while away many an hour discussing the wonders of all things edible. Bea’s had a huge impact on every area of my life and my diet is no exception. Being a veggie for over 20 years, she has opened my eyes to a whole new world of dishes that are not only delicious, but healthy too.

And so to ‘The Mustard Spoon’… This is a place created to share the love, with recipes that are beautiful, nutritious and a complete joy to eat. Simplicity however is the key. I truly believe you don’t need a Michelin Star and a lifetime of experience to create wonderful food, a few lovely ingredients and a bit of care are all you need. The recipes here reflect this principle. Whether it’s wowing guests at a dinner party, creating celebratory feasts or simple everyday entertaining, each recipe is designed to deliver maximum impact for minimum effort. Through carefully combining seasonal ingredients, you’ll find dishes that not only look delicious but have massive flavour to back things up. One of the keys to beautiful food is staying ahead of the game, so wherever possible I’ve included cheats and tips to save you from any kitchen headaches. Finally, (like all things in life) balance comes into play. Nutrition plays such a big role in having a healthy body and mind, so while you will find recipes for gooey chocolate brownies & juicy roasted meats, you’ll find a host of veggie & fruit recipes ready to tip the scale back in the right direction!
